Where does the Weight go?

When you get pregnant you definitely, you definitely assume you are going to gain weight.  A healthy amount of weight gain GREAT!!!  It allows for proper nutrients and growth for you baby.  But, how much should you expect to gain throughout your pregnancy, how much does your doctor expect, and where exactly does it all go?

The recommended weight gain for most women = 25-30 lbs (ACOG)

The recommended weight gain will be different for different women based on their BMI (body mass index).

Where does the Weight Go??????

Baby — 7.5 lbs

Amniotic Fluid — 2 lbs

Placenta — 1.5 lbs

Uterus — 2 lbs

Breasts — 2 lbs

Body Fluids — 4 lbs

Blood — 4 lbs

Maternal stores of fat, protein, and other nutrients — 7 lbs

Total —  30lbs

Being Pregnant is the perfect time to treat your self to all the healthy food that we all love but sometimes forget to indulge in! Enjoy those blue berries and strawberries, yummy green leafy vegetables and high fiber foods.  Go for a walk and enjoy this time of pampering and preparing you and your little baby in you for the time you meet after childbirth.
