UjalaMama is currently working to create opportunities to have trained doulas and labor support from the United States come together and travel to India to assist in the educating of hospital staff and rural birth workers on evidence-based practices in childbirth, support of minimal use of induction, fetal positioning techniques and comfort measures, labor positions, skin-to-skin benefits and breastfeeding, as well as the role and benefits of having workers with laboring women that are like the doula.  The goal is to create a partnership and community that will have an impact on birthing experiences both in India and US.
