Hi! Namaste! Konnichiwa! Assalamu’ alikum! Ni Hao!!! !Hola!!! Jambo!!! Ann-Yeong-Haseyo!!!
My name is Rebekah Bhansali! I am the co-founder of UjalaMama. I live in Irving, TX. I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Human Development & Family Science Degree with a pre-nursing minor. I am currently a Certified Doula through DONA; a graduate Birth and Postpartum doula through the MotherMe Doula certification; and a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) . I am also certified through WIC as a Breastfeeding Educator, a Baby 1st Massage Instructor, and provide Abhyanga (warm oil) Baby Massages.
In 2009 I worked as an intern in India with the organization ARTH (Action Research and Training for Health). As an intern I assisted in the program of training public and rural nurses and labor support in evidence-based labor and delivery practices. I collected, compiled, analyzed, and presented research results of the effectiveness of the training and the practices of the current public hospitals. During this internship I observed numerous delivers, prenatal checkups, and postnatal home wellness checks. This six month experience greatly enhanced my desire to assist and empower birthing women.
I believe that people should not just live life but live it abundantly! I know that a mother’s birthing experience during delivery is vitally important to her and the whole family’s lives. This event will affect them throughout their lifetime. I have traveled around to several different countries, observed different delivery practices, and love seeing how the miracle of birth is special in every culture. However, I know that the culture of birth is not always centered around providing a nurturing environment for mom and baby. This knowledge has ignited my passion in me to help create a more holistic and nurturing environment during this time.
My vision is to see childbirth be a beautiful, safe expression of life for every mother and infant around the world. I want to see women take hold of the joy that is their’s and do it by becoming self-aware and confident in their capabilities; and for the birthing community to support and empower women to birth confidently.
Pregnancy and birth is such an impactful time in a woman’s life. I desire to be part of supporting women and their partners in their journey of birthing life and ensuring that their birthing experience is as safe and healthy as possible. I am so excited to be working with mothers in the DFW metroplex, Stillwater, OK, and around the world, and to be able to provide a holistic approach to childbirth and the family!!
Blessings to You and Your Growing Family!
“If we hope to create a non-violent world where respect and kindness replace fear and hatred, we must begin with how we treat each other at the beginning of life. For that is where our deepest patterns are set. From these roots grow fear and alienation – or love and trust”~(Suzanne Arms)
